Balancing

I have dedicated sets of winter and summer wheels and tires.

I will soon swap the summer set with the winter ones.  Should I balance the winter wheels before putting them on?

If they were in balance when you took them off they should be in balance when you go to put them back on.

Makes sense. Saffy was unstable before he went away, and has been equally unstable since his return.

My wheels were balanced when I purchased them last winter (Nov, 2004).

After a few months of use (regular wear and tear) and driving in Montreal, I am sure that the balancing will be at least a bit off.  Do you agree?

AFAIK, the only way for your wheel/tire to become unbalanced is for the wheel weights to move or fall off.  Mud/crud inside the wheels can throw the balance off as well.

Again...if they were balanced when they came off they will still be balanced. No need to worry. If it makes you feel better have them balanced, but it would be a waste of your money. Go out for dinner instead.
