2023 Toyota Sienna Review
« Reply #1 on: January 06, 2023, 02:11:47 pm »
I used my sister’s Sienna for a week. Something I didn’t realize that the engine runs a lot more in the winter to provide heat, so it does bring fuel consumption up but still a respectable 8.6 L/100km combined. A little worse than my Fiesta that’s 3x smaller and better than my old 5 which is 2x smaller. Doing 80-100km/h I kept it down to 6.3.

My sister’s average lifetime is 7.7 L/100km.

That's impressive for a vehicle that size.

Do you ever call the dealer and bug them about it?  It may be a case of 'squeaky wheel gets the grease'.

Yes, I am in regular contact with the salesman. Toyota just isn't making many. (Driven by a Toyota lot recently?) My experience os hardly unique either judging by threads on Sienna forums.

Most of my stints in Toyota hybrids were in winter, and I had the Highlander in the 9's. Huge difference when I drove the RAv4 last fall and scored a 5.9.

My record with my VCM Odyssey is 7.8 (while doing Montreal > Ottawa in a January snowstorm at 70 km/h tops). In the city in can reach into the 17's in winter, 14-15 more typical, so the Sienna Hybrid does offer amazing fuel economy for a minivan, but not nearly as good as the Pacifica PHEV of course.

Do you know what trim they are waiting for?

I've read that higher level trims (XSE, Limited) and especially AWD models are worse off then lower trim and FWD models.

Knowing him it's a lower trim.

My sister went from a Lexus RX to a Sienna. She needed an 8 passenger format though so she was only able to get an XLE FWD, even though she would've much preferred a Limited or XSE, and AWD which is limited in 8 passenger format to the LE.

My dealer has a couple of '22s for around $75K.  I guess if you can't wait and have money, you are good to go.

The new Siennas are very nice. One of my Ubers was one. Very nice and smooth. Toyota seems to be king for hybrid powertrains.

Yeah, some local dealers here also asking $10-15k over MSRP for used 21 and 22 models. Sorry, that buys a lot of gas and repairs/maintenance on the current vehicle. :banghead:
