At least Toyota brought the Corolla GR which I heard is slightly less sold out than Civic Type R. There's the VW Golf R too.

I used to make fun of the Avalon too but the new CEO has made an effort to make Toyota sporty again. Maybe not so much the TRD Avalons but definitely the GRs. Who would've thought in 2022 that Toyota would have the most number of models with a manual transmission? GR Corolla, GR 86, GR Supra, and Tacoma.

These are the 2 cancelled models that stood out to me as well.

However in reality, I  wouldn't have consider either as an eventual replacement for my Civic. I would consider the new Civic Type R and the GR Corolla. FGC stigma would likely eliminate the Golf R though.

I kind of like the Spark. Shame small cars are going away in general.

I'd likely not buy any of them but the Veloster N, A-class and Q60 are definitely more interesting than the average SUV thing.

Oh forgot about the Integra Type S which might be less rare than the Civic Type R.

I forgot about the Integra as well. However, I'd skip the premium features, save the money and pick the Civic SI instead.

Avalon lives on as the ES350, anyone who wants one might as well get it at the Lexus dealer. The Crown at least is something different

Very few.  Avalons never sold well in Canada.  The 2019 had a hefty MSRP.  I drove one for the summer.  Thinking XSE, 19 inch wheels, quad pipes! 

It was however a great riding vehicle.  Good interior.  Grill; not for everyone.

Nope.  same situation the USA.  The 2.4 hybrid in the Camry was what is was; rough starting/loud.  Had one.  2nd gen.  City mileage good, but nothing like the smoothness of the 3.5.   Gas at the time in most of the USA was not an issue.

What was the point of the Avalon once the ES350 was shifted to the very same production line as the Avalon in KY.  Essentially the same car.  Got rid of it because they needed the production space for the new RAV 4 hybrid  and plug in.  That's what I remember without looking it up.

I know the hybrid went to Kentucky.  But the Prime plug-in was made in Japan and was/is slated for Canada.

Has that changed??

Can't find the article.  PPl in the woodstock plant were upset that 2023 production was going to KY.   But that wasn't recently.  I don't think the Prime is in Woodstock  It's hard to find out.  Maybe because of COVID the Prime is still in JP.  They make so few of them.

For at least a year Biden was threatening problems for automakers if battery powered cars were not "made" in USA.  Canada I think has cleared that hurdle via the Inflation Reduction Act.

So I can't say 100%, but it only stands to reason that it goes to KY.  The battery and the electronic guts still comes from Japan.
