The last 911R is probably my favourite 911 of recent times.  It just had the perfect balance of the go-fast bits and heritage styling.  Of course the manual is icing on the cake.

This seems to follow the same approach, which is fantastic.

Beautiful car, though I don't think it will be a "widow maker" like the 930's were  :rofl2:  These new turbo engines spool up so quick & early, so you don't have the surprise hit at 3k rpms were it shoves you into the back of the seat with authority. Plus with all the safety nannies built into these new cars the only way you're getting into trouble is with them all completely turned off, which most people won't ever do.

I'm a huge Porsche fan, but these have just gotten too large for my tastes... I wouldn't turn one down, but I'm still a HUGE fan of the 997 gen cars.

At this point have they not engineered out all of the nasty rear engined characteristics?

Probably, which is astonishing considering all that weight hanging behind the rear axle.

I'm a huge 911 nut, want one oh so badly. This R does nothing for me, like the presentor said, I'd rather go GT3 or a base 911. I would love a 911 Turbo S but thats out of my budget

God these seats are beautiful. I keep having filthy, filthy thoughts of having the 964's seats reupholstered with something super rowdy.

It was rarely about too much power, it was usually about learning the nuances of off-throttle oversteer that caused the problems.   More power just meant you found out about it at a higher speed

They were pretty much ironed out with the 993, back in the '90s.   Now with stability control as well, it's a non-issue.

There are a couple of upholsterers advertising some throwback design in my monthly PCA mag.

Let me know fi you want me to dig up a couple of numbers for you.
