Wow, that's quite the car.

Seems you can get these for about $40k these days. Cheap (relatively) to get into but I'd be curious as to what the running costs are.
You know what I don’t really understand, so this is part of the VAG group and competes with Rolls Royce and Maybach.  Both of which hold their values a lot better for whatever reason.  I doubt the others are that much more reliable or cheaper to maintain.  It’s strange to me.

Tough to compare since the only RR and Maybach products that existing in the mid '00s were much, much more expensive than this Bentley was, and thus were built in much smaller numbers.

Maybach wasn't much of a looker IMO

Well the Maybach is similar in price, but you are right about the RR, those things are on another level price wise.  But wouldn't all 3 be competitors?

Bentleys were still what, $250-300,000 in 2007?

Incredible what you can get them for now

That being said, was watching a video on fixing one from that era and while a lot of mechanical parts are VW/Audi the body is something different. He wanted to replace the trunk closing motor and it was just not available, as in not even from Bentley. The supplier had gone out of business and there just isn't anyone making a replacement, at least not yet

Yeah, MSRP on this thing as equipped was $272,000 in 2007. I got it for about 10% of that, which is insanity to me. I've been talking to a few people who have owned them over the years and apparently these things are surprisingly reliable, as long as you're able to palate the fact that general maintenance is substantially more expensive. It still feels like a $250k car all day long; the way it carries itself down the highway is notably more "expensive" and special than say, an LS460/S-Class/7-series of the same era.

That said, many bits are carry-over from A8L W12s and Phaetons.

Maybach was not similar in price, in 2006 a Maybach 57 started at $367k USD. Figure about 50% more than the Flying Spur.

I wonder if any fellow geeks in here will appreciate/understand the reference behind the custom license plate frame I got for the Spur...

So, I came across a deal on a very interesting, much newer, almost just as baller vehicle for my dad, and was able to make a handy profit on the Bentley given the current market.

I'll have it for another week in my possession, but it's sold.
