I'm not sure if the Kia K5 front is any better.  It reminds me of the Mitsubishi Diamante.

I actually like the rear and that side profile looks pretty decent. The front is terrible, worse in person than in pictures. Not easy on the eyes.
The front end look ok until I got my cataracts done then it was  :o :hurl:

I much prefer the K5 front. The Diamante looked alright?

The Sonata side view is beautiful, imho.  It flows nicely from the front end to the rear spoiler.  Fight me.  lol

Profile is gorgeous.

It did, but I find it too similar.  I'm sure to be in the minority, though.

2021 Sonata in Glowing Yellow - inside and outside.  I'd buy it in this colour just to be different.

^^^ I've seen a couple on the road.  When clean and shiny it looks pretty fab.  When even a little dirty it looks like stale mustard.  Definitely a shade you would have to fuss with.

I've never noticed that trim running from the A pillar to the inside of the headlight. That's certainly... something.

It still won't hide the fact it is still ugly, and it's already looking dated. No matter how you dress it, even in glittering gold. Your going to be driving a fish face down the road.  :P

Hyundai To Scrap 2023MY Facelift For Sonata, Give It A Major Redesign Instead?

https://www.carscoops.com/2021/08/hyundai-to-scrap-2023my-facelift-for-sonata-give-it-a-major-redesign-instead/

Ever since it was revealed back in 2019, the latest Hyundai Sonata’s styling has been a point of controversy. The car was originally slated to get a facelift some time around the 2023 model year, but a new report claims the car will instead get a full redesign, as its polarizing styling was supposedly leading to poor sales.

Looks like they are not selling well. There is no surprise their. I think it would have look less dated, with more of the Elantra aggressive look, rather than a softer slight conservative look.

Speedkar99 just published a mechanical review of the new 1.6t Sonata. Between the under-tightened bolts, leaky oil pans and a couple of design flaws there is nothing to see there.  :P

I don't see many of these on the road, more likely due to ppl's obsession with CUVs...

I really liked it when I saw it the first time but I too think it may not age well.

That's always been the case with the Korean units.   Over styled with a extra dose of the gaudy.  However, excellent short term leasers in terms of cost/content.

The only exception currently to the Korean gaudiness is the Genesis GV 80.  That unit's styling has long legs.  Just the right level of forward design.  You wouldn't know it was a Korean unit.  And not picking on the Koreans, the Camrys and Accords have looked awful for some time.  :)

Yep.

I think the GV80 is easily the best styled vehicle they sell.

"Hyundai how to" channel have come across many new hybrids leaking, also from the pan and with seemingly the same or similar 1.6t engines. I guess it's either a gasket quality issue or assembly workers don't know how to use a torque wrench. Should be easy to fix IF spotted.

I've seen a handful and I think they've already grown stale to my eyes.

The new K5 styling is a lot less controversial IMHO.

Not to take anything away from the GV80, but its sedan counterpart, the G80 is the swankiest of all the current K-Pop cars I think.
