What's the observed mileage?

I had a Yukon Denali (Short Wheel Base) version of this last week, with the 3.0L Duramax. I finished the week with 10.3L/100km showing...about half of my driving that week was highway and the rest city. Pretty good, especially since I average ~14.5L/100km in the 6.2L version.

I couldn't do the diesel though, the big V8 is part of the charm of these things....sure the fuel savings are nice, and the power is more than adequate in the diesel, but the 6.2L is really nice and responsive, and has the proper V8 sound you expect from one of these beasts. Gimme the V8.

Not sure of the Suburban, but I did find it funny that the Duramax cannot tow as much as the 6.2 gas V8 in the Escalade. You know, the one thing diesels are supposed to be good at, the Duramax is not, LOL.

I do wonder why they went with a diesel instead of having hybrid options. Again, normally there is the towing capacity advantage of the diesel, but that's not necessarily true anymore.

Well these new lightweight diesels seemed to be the thing at one time, but guessing these late diesel designs are going to have short production lives.

F150 and the Tundra going hybrid specifically as diesel replacements:

The big diesels in the tow rigs (3/4 and 1 tons) are nearing 1000 ft/lbs. I'll take that over some gasoline whiz bang V6 blender engine if I was  towing.

Do V6 whiz bang blender engines come in 3/4 and 1 tons  ???

Fords 7.3 V8 appears excellent sans the spark plug wires.  :rofl2:  Never buy a first year anything.

6.8 V8 is also slated for production to replace the 5.0

No I guess what I was saying is I would rather have a 3/4 ton diesel over towing with a Tundra.

Needs to be a 1 ton with full floating axle

That ship has sailed a loooong time ago, but this one has a motorized center console!!

sadly. However the heavier models still available in the US.

No they're not. Same line-up we get down there.

There was a made-to-order, fleet-only Suburban 3500 made available from 2015 to 2019 but it ceased to exist with the current generation. Consumer-grade HD 'Burbans bowed out in 2014.

https://drivetribe.com/p/yes-chevrolet-made-a-one-ton-suburban-MOXJsKbWQyOSpqh4m1MB0w?iid=QeHgDiw1QXyysUeZFntJ7A

That was a weird one. They called it a 3500, but it in some ways (only 3,000 lb tow rating) it was actually less capable than the previous 2500.

They really were designed as a fleet-only vehicle: cop cars, gov’t limos, etc. They did have a huge payload rating, but not so you could fill the back full of rocks, but so outfitters could load it up with armour and bulletproof glass.

My next review to go live is for a bulletproof car, but not in that sense  ;D
