So they buy the small engine with 150 hp and complain it needs more power. Always find that a petty point. Plus there is a bigger engine they could have bought. It is like buying a Miata and complaining it won't fit your large luggage.

So, if someone buys a car, they’re not allowed to complain about any aspect of it, even a little bit?

Here’s what he said:

“... on twisty and occasionally hilly roads, the Golf proved a fun if somewhat underpowered companion. Always planted and stable, its primary shortcoming is in the power department. The 1.4 is happy to rev if the shift paddles are used to hold the engine in the first four or five gears. But if left in automatic during zesty driving, upshifts are too frequent. Similarly, downshifts (and turbo power) are a bit too delayed: The power arrives after the corner you’d intended to power out of has passed.”

That all sounds to me like reasonable commentary. Yeah, he could have got the bigger engine, but maybe he didn’t want or need the AWD that comes with it.

One of our local dealers lists 29 new 2019's in stock, but starting at $32,000, all Highlines and up

The time to buy these was definitely last spring when VW was discounting and still had Comfortlines w/o the leaky sunroof in stock

Check the cowl drains, it's a common problem in Cayenne's, leaves plug up the drain hole and it backs up into the footwell.  YMMV

But it isn't reasonable because the car is doing as it was designed to do just like every other economy car in this segment.

^^ Well then, car reviews will become pretty boring when everyone just writes “Yup, the car is doing just what it was designed to do. /review”

 ;)

^^ this...economy cars are meant to be affordable, practical modes of transportation...if it has a little extra (better suspension, a bit more power, up level features, etc), that's a bonus, but shouldn't be a knock against it if it doesn't.

I was thinking about this as I just did a beer run and could easily change a few words and it would still fit my GTI.

“... on twisty and occasionally hilly roads, the GTI Golf proved a fun adequately powered somewhat underpowered companion. Always planted and stable, its primary shortcoming is in the power department. The 2.0 1.4 is happy to rev if the shift paddles are used to hold the engine in the first four or five gears. But if left in automatic during zesty driving, upshifts are too frequent. Similarly, downshifts (and turbo power) are a bit too delayed: The power arrives after the corner you’d intended to power out of has passed.”
