Did you look at the KTM 790 Adventure Rally?  I got a short ride on a Yamaha 700 Tenere and it was good. Will need to suss out one of these Triumphs.

Yes. I feel like the 300 XC-W and the Triumph are the two bike solution to that bike.  :rofl2:

Seriously though. The KTM would be better off-road, but I also wanted something with a bit more weight for touring, and better on-road manners. If I could have only had one bike I probably would have gone that route, but needs must.  :P

Agreed, and I'm not even much of a bike guy.  That looks like something I'd choose.

That triumph is super nice.  Have you driven other dual sport bikes before? Just wondering how they compare

I've ridden a few, KLR, CRF 250L, and a few KTM/Husky's. Never ridden anything with this size engine before, apart from a brief ride on a KTM 1290R which was just ridiculous (as in good, fast, big). The Triumph is obviously my fave otherwise I would have bought something else, it's definitely going to be a keeper. I love the triple engine, it has more than enough torque, is fairly light for a big bike, and has all the electronics I wanted.  I honestly can't find anything I would change about it.

Test rides are fairly rare unless you go to one of the organized days. Other than the dual sports I listed above, I sat on a load at the various bike shows, it was easy to choose the Tiger over the Africa Twin, BMW, and KTM competition. The reviews of the 800 were very good, and the 900 just one-upped it.

Yeah looked at a bunch of videos of the tiger.  So many nice bikes out there.
