Sony Vision-S EV Concept

It looks much better than Model 3 inside and out, IMO.

Sony's not going to manufacturer this, but is looking for someone to take it over and pay them for licensing.
It would be nice to have it as a competition to Tesla, but I wonder if anyone will pick it up.

Said in the comments something about Magna Steyr. That might make sense as they build on contract for other manufacturers don't they?  I've read they already make the Jaguar I pace and some BMW models.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

So uhhh.. will the radio be Bose or JBL?  ;D

I hope it will be made. It's interesting to see Apple, Samsung (I think) and now Sony wanting a piece of the pie. They are likely seeing future cars as computers for ppl delivery, with higher price tags.

The inevitability that electric vehicles are becoming technology showcases vs basic and boring gas powered transportation.
This is a straight shot at Tesla from a huge company with deep tech and battery experience that can partner with Magna or others to scale production of the underlying chassis.

Well, cars are getting more and more "electronic" as opposed to just mechanical so I guess the involvement of companies like Sony or Apple make sense.

If I have to have an Apple Store experience to go get my new vehicle I will swear off of 4 wheels forever.  ;D

hahaha! you get to talk to some 28 year old 'kid' who lives in their parents basement who doesn't have a drivers license.

maybe it's me... but my eyes tend to translate things somewhat accurately... those proportions look funky (in a not great way).. and the big brakes and wheels will likely be scrapped... making me see a very meh car. still love the idea and the direction the EV market is going though. infotainment should be great! just to screw with people, make the stereo daewoo

I think it's Magna or another car companies structure under the shell.  Like tooscoops said, I think the proportion is a bit off.  Maybe a longer hood would fix it.

If it does happen, Sony is going to push their entertainment content into this.  Imagine having Sony's outstanding noise cancellation tech in this car to cancel out all the wind and tire noise.  You can have a totally silent car to enjoy whatever kind of music you like.

This is entirely analogous to the Chevy Bolt that was effectively assembled by GM from LG parts.
Sony wants a manufacturer to do likewise.

Too bad they're not actually going to make this, but on the plus side it does seem like Sony is going to get more invested in stuff like infotainment screens, sound systems, and maybe even autonomous technology.
