I know my Volt is electronically limited @ 160km/h. It doesn't bother me, so 180km/h shouldn't be either.

But my former Spark EV was electronically limited @ 144km/h: that was bothering me while overtaking someone on a 2 way road, the electric motor still pulled strong then an unexpected "silent bang", it hit a glass roof ceiling. Frustrating it was, would have say Yoda.

Do you have many opportunities to go more than 180km/h where you live?  I have honestly no clue where the need to go faster than 180km/h would ever present itself.

Hwy 2 and 16. When the peasants clear the hammer lane.

With Alberta’s finest frequently parked in the median?

Yeah it pisses me off. Here in AB we have a great system of secondary highways (2 lane), many built to better specifications than the primary highways.  In the southern and eastern parts of the Province there is very light traffic and great visibility. Early in the mornings or on weekdays it would be possible to drive and pass maybe 1-2 cars every half hour going the other way. I ran these roads fast when conditions allowed. I topped out the V70R once here. It seemed like there was a gentlemen's agreement that the RCMP never policed these roads. Perfect. Now AB has supplemented the RCMP (we are 100's of RCMP short) with lower level Sheriffs whose main responsibility is traffic enforcement. I got nailed in a static speed trap at 7:00am on a weekday on one of these secondaries in my freaking Ridgeline of all things. He knocked back the 140 to a 128 (in a 100 zone). He mentioned I was the first car he had seen in almost an hour.  Keeping us all safe and tax dollars at work.  ::) The secondaries are now actively being hunted by fine collectors.
