I do think as long as he's not loading up the rear with a thousand + pounds it should be fine.   I'd be a little worried about how the handling will be impacted but it's not exactly a sports car.

How much more expensive were the proper size?

EDIT: Quite a bit more!

The General Evertreks are $590 taxes in.  Still a good bit more than the SE3s. But that's the route I would go.

I will most likely exchange them when my wife gets home.  I paid $99.99 each for these, the correct tire size (P235/60R17) are on sale for $119.99 each.  So all in $560.43, plus $113 to install .  Plus a $30 CT gift card.

sounds like a good idea...worth the extra ~$100.

Not sure why Dodge is being discussed?  This is for a 2008 Hyundai Entourage.  As mentioned in the title.  So maybe the calculations would work more in my favour?

The GVWR for the Entourage is 2675 kg  The load index is 102

Oh yeah, right. :shuffle:  I blame rrocket!  ;D

Anyway, good choice in the end. Probably would have been fine, but there are plenty of options out there so why chance it?

Just got back from Crappy Tire.  Got the right 4.  Priced it right, $560 tax in.  Plus the $30 gift card.  Install on Tuesday.  So $90 difference, with the gift card, $60.

A wiser choice, IMO.

Well glad that's over.  The Canadian Tire nightmare is over, and the tires are installed.  While I was there, they had 1/2 price of an oil change.  So I just had the regular one done.

i wouldn't call that a nightmare...seems like everything worked out well in the end, no?

I didn't disclose everything.

1.  Originally I had bought the P225/60/R17.  Which I was pointed out, on here, the load index was too low.  They should have warned me about this.
2.  So I had to return them.  Computer says the have 4 of the right tire in stock on sale.  So I get there, unload the old ones.  Try to buy the new ones, counter guy didn't know what was going on.  Took him 20 min to find 3.  Had to order the last one.
3. Monday it comes in, they ask me why I only wanted 1.  I had to explain again!
4.  Tuesday,  bring the van in with the other 3 I bought.  Showed them the invoice that I bought the other 3.  Just needed to pay for the install of all 4, the oil change, and the 3rd tire.  They said they would redo the invoice, so it's not 3 separate ones.
5.  Get a call 3 hours later, it's done.  I go over the invoice.  Looks ok, pay for it.  Get home, ready to store the invoice.  Notice that the price of the ordered tire is wrong.  All 4 should have been $119.99 each (sale price), the last one was $162.99.  I call them back.  Oh just got to customer service they will fix it.  So I had to go back again.  No apology, no nothing!

Had to make 4 trips!

ah...fair enough...well, in the end, it's resolved and you have decent shoes on your van...nothing a couple of beers can't remedy. (just don't drive, or do cocaine, or look after kids  :P )
