Its a cherry car for sure, but that needs some engine work and a catalogue of parts thrown at the chassis to make it remotely desirable for me.
Lighten up Francis.....

Very similar to my first car I bought. I had a mint white on white '78 Z28. Even with a low power 350 it was a lot of fun.

At the time I liked the square headlights and grill of the Firebird better. But really, both bodies were writing cheques their engines couldn't cash.

I don't really have much nostalgia for anything from the 1970s. They were mostly crap.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Gawd Damn that's pretty. Perfect color combo too; would be a sin to throw any performance garbage at this car. A torquey (albeit low output) V8 and a simple automatic is still plenty of fun in this car...Just cruising around, chirping tires, that's the life.

Love the Z28 graphics on the 80/81's, as over the top as they might have been, they really give the car the personality it needs.

i'm not custom guy, but at the price of this thing, surely you could buy a modern crate engine and drop it in, no?...if you're handy, have a shop and the know how (and maybe some helpers), i can't imagine it would even be too expensive ($10k?).

You could easily have 400hp under the hood and have it look bone stock. You could also swap some basic suspension bits to add some real snap to the handling and it would still look stock.  Lastly add 1LE rear discs. The car would appear pretty much original and would be a lot more fun.
