The 2014 4Runners represent a slight price reduction at each trim level versus last year’s models, making them a better value than before.  Still, at just shy of $50,000 for a Limited trim 4Runner, it seems like a lot of money for a vehicle not equipped with HID headlights (even the Corolla has LED lights now!) let alone many of the other technology features now expected in cars costing tens of thousands of dollars less.

If, like most of us now, your off-road ambitions are likely to amount to little more than hauling the family down a cottage road or fording the occasional deep snowdrift, you probably don’t need a macho, thirsty truck-ute like the 4Runner, and Toyota will be pleased to sell you a great Highlander instead.  If however, you’re the sort who craves real adventures in places well off the beaten path, the 2014 4Runner may just be the truck that works for you.
