The Volkswagen Tiguan isn’t overly exciting in any one way, but it does offer great comfortable transportation that feels well built and solid on the road.
Fuel consumption for the week was good for me, I averaged 8.8 L/100 km but that did include a 200-km highway trip, otherwise it was more in the 9.5 L/100 km range. Which is still pretty good considering this is an all-wheel-drive crossover.
The biggest disappointments for me were related to the features and price. The Tiguan seems to be best purchased as a Trendline (base unit) where you get a lot of vehicle for $25,000, but in Comfortline with some features ringing in at over $40,000 it no longer competes.
The other disappointment is the requirement for premium fuel. With fuel prices the lowest they have been in years and the fact that it still cost me over $80 to fill the tank, I was a little shocked.
