If it seems to some of you like I just drove this vehicle, well, you would be correct. But you would also be wrong. Several weeks ago I drove the new 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid, and this week I’m driving the 2013 Ford Fusion SE AWD – similar in appearance, but quite different under the skin.
This week’s tester is powered by a 2.0L Ecoboost four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission powering all four wheels. Of course, at this time of the year there isn’t much in the way of testing that all-wheel-drive system – but I know it’s there.

My tester isn’t fully loaded this time, either, but still comes with enough gadgetry for most people. This includes power windows, climate control, moonroof, navigation, satellite radio and MyFord Touch with Sync.
All-wheel drive is a $2,000 premium over the front-wheel-drive model and also carries a small penalty in fuel economy if that is a concern. I suspect that my fuel consumption this week will be near double what it was in the front-wheel-drive hybrid version of this car, but we’ll have to wait and see for that.
However, while I’m not looking forward to the extra fuel comnsumption, I have a feeling that I’m going to enjoy this week’s tester as I thoroughly enjoyed the hybrid I had a few weeks ago.
MSRP as tested (including destination): $34,977
