Overall, I did not find anything super exciting about the Scion iQ, but I did not find anything horribly negative about it either. It is somewhat of a fun little city runabout that to me — and it seems to many others — that makes more sense than the smart Fortwo. The iQ offers slightly more space for about the same price but, hopefully, lower maintenance costs over the years.
I averaged a not-stellar, but not-too-shabby 5.6L/100km over the course of the week with the car. I was a little surprised at the pump when it stopped at just 20-litres after a full week of driving. I thought for sure that I could squeeze more in but to my surprise, the tank was full.
$25 for nearly 400km of driving is never bad in my books, and the iQ doesn’t beat you up on the highway either as it does keep the rpms down. For me, though, the driving position was not ideal and for that I’d have to pass — if you can get comfortable, though, this could be the second car you have been waiting for.
