NEW FOR 2010:
– New all-wheel drive 750i xDrive and 750Li xDrive models
– New 760Li model
– New ActiveHybrid 7 Series
– All models feature brake energy regeneration and USB audio port
Redesigned into its fifth generation for 2009, the BMW 7 Series adds four new models for 2010. The 750i xDrive and 750Li xDrive models add all-wheel drive to a lineup that was previously rear-wheel only, while the 760Li offers an all-new twin-turbocharged V12 engine, and the ActiveHybrid 7 includes gasoline-electric propulsion. All models now feature brake energy regeneration, which initiates battery charging only during braking, coasting or decelerating, providing up to three per cent improved fuel economy
Three powertrains are available in the 7 Series. The 750i models use a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with six-speed automatic transmission, while the 760Li uses a twin-turbocharged V12 engine with eight-speed automatic transmission. The ActiveHybrid 7 uses the twin-turbocharged V8 with electric motor and eight-speed automatic transmission; it uses the electric motors to assist the gasoline engine and cannot run on its battery alone, but will shut off the gasoline engine at idle for improved fuel economy.
The 7 Series is available in regular wheelbase, designated 750i, and in long-wheelbase, designated 750Li. The all-wheel drive models are designated xDrive.
Features on the 750i and 750i xDrive include 18-inch alloy wheels, four-zone automatic climate control, speed-sensitive power steering, adaptive LED brakelights, adaptive automatic bi-xenon headlamps with washers and cornering lights, front and rear fog lights, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer nozzles, electromechanical parking brake with hold function, front and rear Park Distance Control, tire pressure monitoring system, front knee airbags, active front head restraints, power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, Comfort Access with pushbutton start, auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambiance lighting, dynamic cruise control, power sunroof, heated multifunction three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with power tilt and telescopic column, soft-close trunk lid, garage door opener, leatherette dash pad, heated 16-way Nappa leather seats with driver’s side memory, heated outboard rear seats, five-passenger seating, DVD/MP3 stereo with hard disc storage, USB port, iPod interface, Bluetooth connectivity, and voice-controlled hard disc-based navigation system.
