Expected to produce upwards of 800 hp, the new Quattro concept will highlight Audi’s renewed focus on all-wheel drive.
Audi has a new flagship on the way and it isn’t a derivative of the super-understated-car R8.
When IAA Frankfurt rolls around next month, Audi is expected to show a sheetmetal version of the car seen in the sketches we have here. Rumours are swirling that the new car, which harkens back to the 80s Sport Quattro, will be a bahnstormer and produce upwards of 800 hp from a hybrid drivetrain.
This isn’t the first time we have seen a Quattro concept. Back in 2010, Audi showed off a car similar to the one in the sketches at the Paris Auto Show. It was thought the older concept would be powered by a 408 hp, turbocharged, five-cylinder engine.
The newest iteration, which is expected to give rise to an actual production model, is rumoured to have a 4.0L V8 gas engine making north of 600 hp and an electric motor producing an additional 170 hp.
If a production model comes to fruition, expect it to be more expensive than anything else Audi sells.
Does anyone else think the front of the new concept looks like a stormtrooper’s helmet? Let us know in the comments.
