When the SS designation doesn’t soothe your craving for performance, what do you normally turn to? There always is the ZL1, if you’d like to go back a generation, or wait for 2017 and the new-gen Camaro ZL1 to hit the market. Or, you wait a few more months to get your own 2017 Chevrolet Camaro LT or SS 1LE.

GM has announced that they will bring back the Camaro 1LE, an optional package slightly more aggressive than the already available SS. The Camaro 1LE will stand out from your regular Camaros thanks to a satin black hood cover and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels. For the first time, the package will be available both on the manual transmission V6 and V8 versions of the model – nobody gets left behind this time and nobody cheats their way through performance with an automatic gearbox. There will however be some minor tune up differences between the LT and SS trims.

The LT 1LE versions of the Camaro will feature FE3 suspension components and four-piston Brembo brake calipers at the front. They will also receive the SS’ fuel system as well as a standard dual-mode exhaust system and a standard track cooling package.

The SS 1LE receives a few more perks such as and FE4 suspension with the Magnetic Ride Control system, model-specific Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires, red, six-piston Brembo calipers, Recaro front seats – because who cares about the rear seats in a Camaro anyway? – as well as graphite front splitter and rear spoiler.

The 1LE package will be available later this year on the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, but a first peek at the new model will be unveiled next week at the 2016 Chicago auto show.
