Buick’s LaCrosse flagship is up for a redesign, and the inspiration for its new look is the Avenir concept GM revealed at January’s Detroit auto show.

GM’s second luxury division (next to Cadillac, of course) teased an image of the LaCrosse’s nose today, revealing a grille that could have been lifted directly from the Avenir. It calls to mind the face of recent Mercedes-Benz products, and that’s not a bad thing; the question is how much more of the Avenir will be carried through to the first production model to share its likeness. GM says the new grille design will grace all Buick models by the 2018 model year.

Buick says the new LaCrosse is built on a stronger-yet-lighter platform that “serves as the foundation for a more dynamic driving experience,” and takes “Buick’s signature quietness to a new threshold.”

Watch for the LaCrosse’s reveal this November, at the Los Angeles auto show.

2017 Buick LaCrosse will feature many Avenir-inspired design cues and introduce the new face of Buick.  LaCrosse will make its global debut in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
