With the latest James Bond film, Spectre, set to reach movie theatres later this year, Aston Martin has announced a Bond-themed version of its DB9 GT grand tourer.
Aston will build just 150 examples of the Bond Edition DB9 GT; unfortunately, they will not include any cool gadgets but Aston is throwing in an Omega watch and Globe Trotter trolley suitcase so Bond fans can properly fantasize about being a super-spy for the day.
The car comes with some plenty of firepower, however, in the form of a 540-hp, 6.0L V12 shared with standard DB9 GT models, enough for a zero-to-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds.
To set the Bond Edition cars apart from the ‘every day’ version, Aston adds unique 10-spoke wheels, special silver ‘Spectre’ paint, bright aluminum bonnet vents, carbon fibre front splitter and rear diffuse, and grey brake calipers; inside, the “subtle” homage to James Bond continues with numbered sill plates bearing the ‘007’ logo, gun barrel embroidery on the rear seat divider, and a special Bond Edition start-up screen for the infotainment system.
In the U.S., the DB9 GT Bond Edition will sell for $247,007 (ha!). Given how often Bond destroys his cars, maybe MI6 should buy a few of these ones…
