Last week, we told you how Scion added a backup camera, some trim pieces, and $820 to the 2016 edition of its FR-S sports car; today, Subaru revealed that while it has not added any standard features to its BRZ (a near twin to the FR-S) for 2016, it is holding the line on pricing.
The starting MSRP remains $27,395 for the base model with a manual transmission, while the price for the uplevel Sport-tech package also stays still, at $29,395. As before, optioning up to the six-speed automatic transmission adds $1,200 to either trim.
We’re still waiting for either company to give this car a bit more power: 2016 being the fourth year on the market for these little coupes, we’d expected one or the other to gain a high-performance variant. By the same token, Subaru might be hesitant to boost this car’s drivetrain for fear of siphoning sales away from the turbocharged-up-the-wazoo Impreza-based STI, a notion driven home by Subaru’s statement regarding the BRZ STI concept it showed earlier this year, at the New York auto show.
The 2016 Subaru BRZ goes on sale across Canada in mid-June.

As a child, Chris spent much of his time playing with toy cars in his parents’ basement; when his mother would tell him to go play outside, he made car sounds while riding his bicycle or dug roads for his toys in the flower garden. Now he gets to indulge his obsession playing with real cars that make their own cool noises, and gets paid for it.
