Ford recalls F-150 for broken steering shafts

Ford has recalled 3,348 F-150 pickups in Canada to replace steering shafts that were improperly riveted during the manufacturing process and could break, causing a loss of steering control.

Yup, that’s a good reason to recall a few thousand vehicles; the campaign also includes nearly 9,000 trucks in the United States and Mexico; “only” 5,606 of the affected trucks are on the road, while the rest are still on dealer lots.

Ford says it’s aware of one case of steering loss caused by the faulty component, but says it hasn’t heard of any injuries as a result of the flaw. The manufacturer is asking dealers to inspect the trucks’ steering shafts, and replace them where necessary.
