With sports car maker Porsche building sportscar inspired SUVs, this might just be Audi’s ticket

The Audi TT is getting a brother as the four-ringed marque looks to spin the TT nameplate into a sub-brand of sorts. But, which TT concept will Audi bring to production?

Automobile seems to think it will be the TT Offroad Concept, though it will likely get another name when it heads to the factory: TTQ.

The new model would do well as the Q4, slotting between the Q3 and Q5 in Audi’s lineup, but that name is trademarked by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles thanks to their Maserati subsidiary. Instead, the new model is expected to get a TTQ nameplate on the tailgate, even though Audi was willing to pay large sums of cash for the Q4 trademark.

“We have no choice but to make a virtue out of necessity,” explained a senior manager from Audi to Automobile. “By taking the TTQ route, we avoid the confrontation with Fiat, we don’t overcrowd the Q corral, and we add a fresh twist to the TT theme.”

I suppose it’s better than QTπ.
