Could this be the mid-engined Corvette Zora ZR1?

Keen cell phone shooter Ryan Konko of Motoring Exposure has caught what is probably one of the weirdest test mules we’ve seen in a long time.

What you see here is a Chevrolet Malibu wearing what looks like parts of the rear-end of a Chevrolet Corvette and a very basic exhaust setup.

Why? We haven’t the slightest clue.

The only thing this might possibly be – and it’s a very salt-laden might – is a mule for an upcoming mid-engined Corvette Zora ZR1 we wrote about last week. However, the lack of manufacturer’s plates makes us wonder if this is a General Motors test mule or someone just playing a massive trick on everyone.

What do you think? Sound off on the Autos.ca forum below!

UPDATE: We just received more images from Ryan (posted below). Rear wheels are definitely from the Corvette Stingray. Up front, the grille is certainly not from a Malibu, but we can’t quite place it yet.

UPDATE 2: Front grille is from an Aston Martin Rapide as pointed out by forum member jamesautos.
