Markham, Ontario – Honda Canada has issued two separate recalls for a power window switch on the CR-V, and software for the hybrid system on the CR-Z.

The CR-V recall affects 13,151 model-year 2006 vehicles and will involve replacing the power window master switch. The switch design can allow the residue from cleaning products to accumulate. Over time, and with switch use, this can cause the electrical contacts to degrade and may lead to a fire in the switch.

The CR-Z recall will affect 619 model-year 2011 vehicles equipped with manual transmissions to update the software that controls the hybrid electric motor. If the gasoline engine stalls while the Integrated Motor Assist battery is in a very low state of charge and the transmission is in gear, it is possible for the electric motor to rotate in the opposite direction to that selected via the transmission. If this occurs and the driver has not engaged the brakes, the vehicle may slowly roll in an unexpected direction, such as backwards when the transmission is in a forward gear. The software update will add further controls to correct the problem.

Notification to owners of affected vehicles will begin in late September 2011. Honda Canada is encouraging all owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification.
