The new entry level four-cylinder 2L turbo runs to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and traps the 1/4 mile at 14.0 seconds when equipped with the six-speed manual. In the auto, the turbo Camaro runs the 1/4 in 5.5 seconds.
Dude, the automatic makes for a fricken fast 1/4 mile!!!   :eye: :shuffle: :pimp:

Ronnie, I love your news articles - so much detail!!!  Keep 'em all coming!!

Why does the RS pull 0.89 g on the skid pad and the SS 0.97 g when they're on the same tires? I understand things like spring rates, weight, traction control settings, yada yada, but this seems like a big difference. It seems like the engineers really handicapped the V6's track potential.

Could it possibly the SS has the magnetic ride control shock system thingy?  Not sure how much of a advantage these normally have over regular shocks but that could be why it pulls .08 more G's.

LESS weight?

So glad to see that more makers are putting effort into reducing mass instead of just adding power.

I was thinking the same thing. Less window, less weight ?

Agreed.  Looks great and always nice to see a reduction in weight.  I wonder if they addressed the cheap horrible interior as well?

Really sounds like quite an improvement on the previous gen.  The SS would be a heck of a factory ride....

But all-season run-flat tires???  WTF?   Odd choice for the top dog Camaro.  Swapping those off would be a necessary first step.

no spare is one way to get the weight down I'd imagine. Yup, I'd get ride of them right away. Probably keep stock rims for winters and buy some nice aftermarket wheels. I am waiting on the 1LE or equivalent option to get better seat options. Not that I'm going to get one, but I'd want the 1LE or whatever they'll call the track pack version.

Yeah, only issue is 20" winters are a little extreme.  Would be nice to just option base model rims (18? 19"?) for winters and a set of aftermarkets for your summers.

Looks great, would still get a Mustang over this though.

Where are the interior shots?

My guess is that the SS gets summer tires and not all seasons as stated in the article.  It's confusing because Goodyear has both a UHP all season tire and a max performance summer tire, and both are called "Eagle F1 Asymmetric".   That plus I don't know of many all season tires that get close to 1.0g in cornering...

GM put all the money into the engine and chassis.

I think that looks great!  I just wish they wouldn't put a surround around the nav screen that makes it look like a 50's TV.

The V-8 Camaro is going to be a giant slayer - not that the current one is a slouch!  V-8, manual trans, and incredibly well developed chassis?  YES PLEASE.

The current car's chassis is fantastic - posting lap times that are shocking.  The next one takes this to yet another level.  I might not be a fan of the exterior look, but holy-hell these are great cars to drive.

Add in that the newest one has lost significant weight?  Wow - way to go GM.

The weight loss is definitely impressive.
