I will try to switch mine over to a 2016. Since I have access to the Nissan A plan the lease on my current one is quite low, $400/month all in. I already have a couple of persons interested in taking over my lease.

If the price of the new one is not affected too much by the exchange rate I'll probably switch.

the slightly longer range is nice, but i still the think the Bolt could be just the ticket for what buyers want...it seems to look more like a "regular car" (although, the Leaf still looks similar to a previous gen Versa), has a very good "300+ km range" (claimed) and a shape and style that looks to be both functional and attractive...the Bolt would be the only EV i'd consider purchasing if i were in the market (Tesla excluded, since i'm not in that price bracket).

U.S. prices went up by about $2k.

If the Alberta government gets it together and offers similar rebates, I'd sure be tempted.  $24K is very fair.

That press release is wrong. They are showing the prices after the rebate. The rebate is applied AFTER the taxes.

A bit misleading.

i'm baffled as to why none of these companies has just come out with a direct competitor to the model s.  these little city cars like the leaf, i3, and bolt are all fine and dandy but i need a bigger car and more range.  wtf!!!!!!
Then buy a Tesla S... ;D

I'm pretty sure that once other car manufacturers have caught up with Tesla's autonomy their legendary red-ink printing after-sale service will vanish faster than last year's smartphone accessories. Tesla is still losing money while establishing its product base and battery factory, but if, say, LG comes up with a 400km battery, Tesla will have to stop losing money on a shorter schedule than the major manufacturers.

The model s is 100k bucks.  That's why I'm not buying one.

Original price of our Tesla Model S 85 was $94K before taxes and incentives, so about $97K all in.  So your estimate of $100K is in the right ball park.

We didn't buy new.  We bought our Tesla second hand through the Tesla "CPO" program.   For a two year old car with almost 60000 km, Tesla gave us a major discount off new, and included new tires, brakes and charging cord.

Over 8 years, we'll save $10K in fuel.  We kept our previous 4 cars (prior to the MB) to 12 years and >150000 km each, so we are comfortable with long term ownership.

With that savings included, we'll spend $30K more than simply driving the Mercedes into the ground over that period.  It was pretty easy to make that decision.
