Better in every way I'm sure, but its like they went out of their way to make it as generic looking as possible.  I've seen a few on the road now and they are utterly devoid of any styling personality.  At least the last gen looked great in the right trims.

Otoh, I saw a CX-3 yesterday and it looked fantastic and the first drool worthy suv/cuv that I can remember.

The previous Edge looked pretty MEH.
This one looks good, drives well, is fast, packed with all imaginable features, and is priced well.
A winner for Ford. I am seeing more and more of them in my 'hood.

I actually like the new version more than the previous gen.  Previous gen wasn't a bad looker either, though.

I saw a blue CX-3 yesterday on the road, and it looked GOOOOD.

Put me in the camp of liking the old one more, but this one looks good as well.

Again - thanks for the detailed review Ronnie! So often, reviews tend to only focus on the top engine even though most will stick with the base 2.0L, so it was nice to hear about all the choices.

Couldn't disagree with you more.

I really like the new Edge, though not the rear cohesive tail light

...but I see the CX-3 everywhere, including FMIL's, which she just picked up yesterday.  I really, really don't understand where all the love for it is.  I think it looks like every other Mazda, and while not a 'bad' thing, I don't see it as this gorgeous cuv that one would 'drool' over.

At least this Edge comes loaded to the t!ts with features, and the pricing reflects it.  I think the Murano is a better buy here, although the Edge's powertrains are all better.

I didn't say that i don't like it, or that its ugly.  Just looks really meh in the few that I have seen so far.  It's not that big of a deal either, but just bugs me a little because it's probably way out ahead of the rest in is class and even steps a little above its class in all other respects.  Too bad it has to look so blah.  We'll just have to agree to disagree about the CX-3.  I like its looks a lot!  Btw, wtf is FMIL? Whoever she is she has good taste!  :D

The 2.7L engine is amazing! This is the engine that should be in the Mustang.

Asides from that, I really like the new Edge and it might be what I am looking for to replace my Jetta, when that time comes.

Ford is pumping out some well styled cars in the past two years.  GM and FiatCo on the other hand  :P

Agree about Ford doing well, and GM being blander than store brand vanilla ice cream, but FCA?

On the CUV/SUV side of things, I can see it somewhat. The Wrangler is awesome, and I like the Renegade and 500X, but the other FCA offerings are pretty boring (Hello, Dodge Journey!). Then there is the "unique" Cherokee and the hideous 500L.

However, the passenger cars are a different tale. Consider these matchups:

Fiesta vs 500 vs Sonic
Focus vs Dart vs Cruze
Fusion vs 200 vs Malibu
Taurus vs 300 vs Impala
Mustang vs Challenger vs Camaro

Looks are completely subjective, but I would say that in all fives cases the FCA car is the best looking, followed by Ford, then GM in last.

Nice vehicle, but man is that top trim ever expensive.

My mother in law is looking at upgrading her 2010 Escape.  We took a 2014 EDGE SEL AWED and then a 2015 EDGE SEL Ecoboost AWD for test drives.  I have to admit, I came away like the 2015 a lot better.  Handling and driving was a lot more nimble feeling and the 2.0 was smooth and offered lots of torque.  The mother in law also preferred the 2015.  Our only concern was that she pulls a 2000lb cabin trailer with her Escape (rated at 3500 lbs tow capacity) and the Edge is rated at the same (both 14 and 15).

I had a 2013 Escape, the 15 Edge drive reminded me a lot of how the Escape was nimble and handled, which I really enjoyed.

and here's what I suspected: the Edge Sport is fast, performance is on par with the X3/X4 335i!

Zero to 60 mph: 5.6 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 14.8 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 29.9 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 6.2 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 3.1 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 4.1 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 14.2 sec @ 98 mph

These look sharp. There's a dark red with black trim and big wheels rolling around our area, looks fantastic. Wish it were a 3 row though.
