Still trying to figure the purpose of Ecoboost. It seems that it has missed it's original mark in increasing real world fuel economy.
Sure I get the fact that less displacement achieves same or more power saving 1L of displacement, but the F.E. seems nearly identical.
Does the Edge really need 300+ HP ? If so electric assist ?
My concern with turbo is longevity and functionality on 87 rating.
Seems that normally aspirated engines have gone by the way of the Dodo bird with Ford.

I understand this article is about the 2015 Edge Sport, but please no truck n@t$ promotions.

yeah red... i think it's a case of the displacement... so many countries still tax based on L under the hood... no real savings at the pump for the person buying it... just allows the engine to be put in more countries without a hefty tax/fine being placed on it.

just my thoughts.

overall... not that impressed with the numbers personally... since we all know there is no unicorn that gets both power and economy, why go halfassed with 315? that's around what many v6's put out normally right now. and those will have similar costs associated, both up front and at the pump.
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

The 2.7 (315hp and 350ft-lb, 13.6/9.8 ) has 10 more hp and 70ft-lbs more torque than the 3.7L, but matches the fuel consumption of the less powerful 3.5L (285hp, 253ft-lb, 13.7/9.6)

But I think  people have unrealistic expectations of turbo engines. If a person is using 300hp, they're going to burn 300hp worth of fuel. But at lower or no boost, as in a steady state on the highway, the smaller engine should be producing better fuel economy.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

So far, I haven't had a problem meeting EPA numbers in anything I've rented.
