" 455 hp and a peak torque of 445 lb-ft of torque" Is it me or is this absurd power for a mid size vehicle. Power rating that used to be on heavy duty trucks until recently. I guess one has to come on strong or go home if chasing the bimmer "M" or MB "AMG" for some recognition.

Recaro and Brembo must be very happy these days. Those are great looking seats. Titanium rods....I'm in.

"If the move to relocate Cadillac’s corporate headquarters to Manhattan" Caddy and Lincoln. Is this a trend ?

Hell, it's not really even a midsize!  You could realistically call the ATS a compact, seeing as it has less interior volume and trunk space than most compact cars (Cruze, Corolla, etc.)  Not really fair comparison of course - RWD luxury vs FWD econocar - and the ATS does weigh the same as most front-drive midsize cars - so maybe you could argue it NEEDS that 450 HP/TQ  ;D

Good decision by Cadillac to make the ATS-V in both coupe and sedan forms.  Any word on pricing yet?

I think all of these Cadillac designs almost NEED to be black (ATS, CTS, Escalade).   Looks the best aesthetically IMO and somehow suits the American luxury car look.

Not a huge fan of that white coupe, but love the black sedan.

Hopefully these things depreciate like a rock :)

I posted on this yesterday and received tumbleweeds. http://jalopnik.com/2016-cadillac-ats-v-everything-you-need-to-know-1660462891

I think it looks great (in a brash Cadillac kind of way) and I'm sure the performance is going to be amazing. These Cadilliacs are always love em or hate em but I am firmly in the love. I love that it's bold and brash. Looks amazing in black IMO.

I think there's a lot more different on this vehicle other than the hood and bumper man.

the angle of the pic of the black model you have made it look really good, so i re-looked at the regular model

sure, it's got spoiler, new rims, rear quad exhaust, but the body is the same...   and it's even more noticeable on the coup with it's flat side panels.

that's fine because what matters is the drive and the powertrain, but at the same time, both AMG and M offers actually different body panels to differentiate their primo high performance models.   I think ATS should do EVEN MORE, not less, to truly stand out.

i dunno... GM V6 with twin turbo?..   not a great combo for good reliability.  but like i said, can't be any worse than FGC, which is good enough for me.

Those front seats   ...but the back - is it only a 4-seater?

" 455 hp and a peak torque of 445 lb-ft of torque" Is it me or is this absurd power for a mid size vehicle.

Yeah, with no offence meant whatsoever, you sound like a fricken Rental Car company.  I don't give a rats' as$ what the interior volumes suggest the car should be.  It's a mid-size, not a compact.  Again, not arguing against you, just against the practice of going to Avis/Budget/Alamo/Enterprise, etc. and reserving a "mid-size" and getting offered a Ford Focus or a Corolla.  Eat sh!t, rental agencies...those are NOT mid-size sedans.  My parents just got to Flarada (Florida) and had reserved a Full-Size.  When they got to the counter, they said, "good news, we have a Ford Fusion for you!"  HA.  4 adults + luggage?  In a Taurus, hell yeah.  Passat?  Maybe.  Fusion?  No go.

Any way, I think, and I'm sure you will all disagree because you're 'purists'; but the ATS-V's biggest issue when it will come to sales will be the lack of AWD.  People like AWD.  If you track your car or live in the southern US, then yeah, RWD all the way.  ...but I can see a lotta people saying, "no AWD in a $65,000+ car?  No dice."

My buddy has a 2014 V-Sport and he had five recalls already. FAC's.

That's a lot of recalls already. What a shame as this is fabulous car aesthetically and mechanically. Good job Cadillac.

BMW sure sells a fair number of M cars with no AWD.

Really depends how you want to position these vehicles (M, V, AMG, etc).   If the goal, first and foremost, is to be the sportiest drive around, then RWD is clearly the way to go.

I think if I had the budget for ATS-V, but was more concerned about all-year/all-weather driving (and hence wanted AWD), I should be spending my $65k on CTS 3.6 AWD

Define "a fair number".

SirO?  Is there a sales stat for the # of M3/M4s sold (separate from the 3-series in any other iteration)?

Sounds exciting for sure but the car is a little chubby looking for me and still has one foot stuck in the art and science misadventure. I wish they'd have let it drift closer in style the new CTS.

I'm really just going anecdotal in that I see an "awful lot" (note: not an exact quantity) of M cars on the road in Ontario and I'd wager BMW sells more of them than Audi RS's, Mercedes AMG's, or Cadillac V's.    And...apart from the SUVs....they're all RWD.

They might sell more if they offered an AWD variant, but they do a fine enough job of diluting their brand as it is.   Keep the M cars RWD.
